Welcome Bags—Tips & Ideas

Guests love to be treated to a fun surprise and welcome bags are a great way to set the tone for the weekend’s festivities. It’s important to make the welcome bags personal, fun and something your guests will remember.

  • Choose a bag, basket or box that you want to fill. The possibilities are endless. Include your color scheme, theme, and logo.
  • Choose foods that fit in with your theme.
  • Baseball Theme: Big League Chew, sunflower seeds, Cracker Jacks, a Baby Ruth candy bar and Gatorade.
  • Movie Theme: popcorn, soda, and a jumbo-size candy bar.
  • Buy in bulk. Bottles of water or snacks can be broken up into smaller cellophane bags that can be tied with ribbon to match your color scheme or add labels with your child’s logo!
  • Buy local. Is your city known for a certain candy or food? Or does your child have a favorite food or treat? If so, make sure to include it. Something like fresh challah, custom cookies or homemade chocolate from your favorite local shop can also be a great treat. Again, you can use cellophane bags and divide these items into smaller bags.
  • A coffee gift card to a nearby coffee shop.
  • Itinerary of the weekend’s event. Many people won’t bring their invitation with them, so make sure that you include a list of the weekend’s events, including the time and directions to each location.
  • List of area attractions. Your guests may not know the area well and may want to take advantage of your city’s attractions in their free time. List malls, museums, spas or other attractions close to the hotel.
  • Include a note or poem thanking your guests for coming. Your guests have taken the time to travel to celebrate with you, make sure you let them know that you appreciate it. Including a personalized note will really stand out.
